Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Department Manager to lead our Wellness Team at Nature's Fare Markets. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for the overall appearance, efficiency, and profitability of the Health and Beauty and Vitamin and Supplement department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Department Leadership: Oversee the team members within the department, ensuring a clean and well-stocked environment, and promoting a positive and supportive working atmosphere.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the Corporate Purchaser to ensure that all deals, specials, and other incentives are taken advantage of, and make smart purchasing decisions to maintain optimal levels of inventory.
  • Merchandising and Display: Merchandise the department in a way that promotes sales and creates a visually appealing layout, and re-merchandise sections as needed.
  • Staff Management: Work with the store's Manager and Assistant Manager to monitor department staffing requirements, including scheduling, Requests for Time Off, and staff to customer ratio.
  • Training and Development: Ensure that all department staff are trained using Nature's Fare Markets training material and according to the schedule set out in the training outline.
  • Leadership and Communication: Demonstrate leadership skills through delegating and coaching, and uphold excellent communication skills to encourage open communication between all department members.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years experience in managing people, with experience in a retail setting considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Strong knowledge of vitamins and supplements preferred, and a willingness to learn, as well as a passion for alternative medicine and holistic health.
  • Education: Education in a related field is an asset.
