Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Nursing Unit Assistant to join our team in the Emergency Department at Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops. As a key member of our team, you will provide exceptional patient care and administrative support to our healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of clerical duties related to patient care, including prioritizing and processing physicians' orders, scheduling appointments, and maintaining patient charts.
  • Act as a communication link for the unit, relaying messages to healthcare professionals and patients.
  • Provide administrative support, including data entry, filing, and preparing reports.
  • Maintain accurate timekeeping records for regular and relief staff.
  • Observe patient call signals and relay messages to healthcare professionals.
Requirements
  • Completion of Grade 12
  • A current Typing Test of 40 wpm or greater completed within the past 48 months from a recognized institution
  • A Nursing Unit Clerk Certificate
  • Ability to keyboard 40 wpm
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to deal with others effectively
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
  • Ability to organize work
  • Ability to operate related equipment
  • Ability to utilize a variety of computer software applications
