Job Summary:

Georgian College is seeking a part-time Professor to teach Communications courses. As a faculty member, you will have the opportunity to apply your passion for teaching and share your rich industry experience by creating a supportive and effective learning environment that allows students to achieve their full academic potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a variety of communications courses
  • Develop and deliver appropriate curriculum to meet course learning outcomes
  • Incorporate a variety of teaching/learning strategies to meet student needs
  • Evaluate student progress/achievement
  • Participate in program, portfolio, and college activities as required
  • Participate in program revision and renewal activities as required
  • Create and maintain a positive learning environment

Qualifications:

  • Relevant post-secondary education in a related discipline (e.g. Journalism, Communications, Public Relations)
  • Demonstrated experience teaching/coaching/advising others in topics related to Communications
  • Knowledge and expertise related to literacy
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations
  • Experience promoting change and leading innovation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to life-long learning
  • Computer literacy: Microsoft Office, along with a high level of comfort level with learning new software (e.g. student learning management systems and various teaching delivery applications)
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment and to foster the same in students
  • Experience in some or all of the following is an asset: curriculum development, a variety of delivery strategies, learning methodologies, academic advising, and student success strategies
  • Teaching and Training Adults certification and/or experience in a teaching or training capacity is an asset
