About the Position

As a Claims Consultant at Intact Financial Corporation, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding municipal and community service organizations through our specialized insurance programs. Your contributions will be instrumental in their success, and you will be proud to be part of a reputable insurance provider that values entrepreneurial spirit and expertise.

This position involves offering guidance and support to both claims and underwriting functions within the insurance sector. You will provide strategic advice to management, assist in the resolution of complex claims, oversee quality assurance initiatives, and contribute to the training of claims professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver multiline claims expertise to enhance departmental guidelines and programs aimed at effectively managing loss expenses and ensuring consistent application of settlement policies.
  • Participate in special projects focused on evaluating the Claims function and developing improvements to processes and personnel for enhanced customer service and achievement of company objectives.
  • Establish key performance indicators to assess service levels and the effectiveness of Claims personnel.
  • Conduct regular audits of claims files to verify compliance with company standards, reporting findings to management and utilizing insights to enhance Claims operations.
  • Lead the creation of technical training programs for claims staff by identifying needs, developing content, and providing recommendations.
  • Offer consultation on complex claims, including technical advice, exposure assessments, facilitation of Alternative Dispute Resolution, and representation at arbitration hearings as necessary.
  • Assist in interpreting relevant case law.

Qualifications:

  • A university degree or a combination of relevant training and experience.
  • A minimum of ten years of experience across all lines, including casualty liability and property.
  • Litigation experience is advantageous.
  • Technical proficiency in claims management, with extensive experience in coverage analysis, investigation, and evaluation of claims.
  • Knowledge of Alternative Dispute Resolution is beneficial.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Adaptability to work in a dynamic environment.
