Meta Cannabis Co. is on the lookout for a Financial Reporting Manager. This role is essential in our dynamic and expanding organization within the cannabis retail sector. As a Financial Reporting Manager, you will oversee the finance reporting analysts in the preparation of financial statements, including Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) and account reconciliations for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, along with SOX compliance testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and support the team in the monthly consolidation of financial statements, including the preparation of notes to accounts and MD&A for the applicable reporting period.
  2. Ensure adherence to IFRS standards, policies, processes, and controls during the preparation of consolidated financial statements.
  3. Prepare, review, and coordinate reconciliations of consolidated accounts.
  4. Collaborate with operational accounting teams of both domestic and international entities, tax, and other departments to implement best practices for account reconciliations.
  5. Conduct technical research and document complex transactions, including the application of new accounting standards.
  6. Assist the director of financial reporting with business combination accounting and impairment assessments.
  7. Provide necessary documentation and explanations for external auditors during the audit/review of consolidated financial statements.
  8. Review and update the risk control matrix (RCMs) in line with current processes.
  9. Conduct monthly tests for RCMs and document findings for external auditor review.
  10. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. A minimum of 3 years of experience in a public company focusing on financial statements and MD&A preparation is essential.
  2. Prior experience working with auditors from major firms (EY/KPMG/PWC/Deloitte/Grant Thornton) is required.
  3. Experience with internal controls and SOX compliance is mandatory.
  4. At least 3 years of leadership experience managing a team of 3 or more employees is necessary.
  5. Experience in preparing and auditing consolidated financial statements, including MD&A, with exposure to dual-currency transactions and consolidations is advantageous.
  6. A comprehensive understanding of all aspects of accounting is expected.
  7. Strong knowledge of IFRS is required.
  8. Excellent accounting research and analytical skills are essential.
  9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel skills, is necessary.
