Meta Cannabis Co. is on the lookout for a Financial Reporting Manager. Our organization is dynamic, expanding, and a frontrunner in the cannabis retail industry. As a Financial Reporting Manager, your primary responsibility will be to collaborate with the finance reporting analysts to compile the financial statements, including Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) and account reconciliations for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, along with SOX controls testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee and assist the team as needed in the monthly consolidation of financial statements, including the preparation of notes to accounts and MD&A for the applicable period.
  2. Ensure adherence to IFRS standards, policies, processes, and controls during the preparation of consolidated financial statements.
  3. Prepare, review, and coordinate reconciliations of consolidated accounts.
  4. Collaborate with operational accounting of both Canadian and international entities, tax, and other departments to implement best practices for account reconciliations.
  5. Conduct technical research and document complex items, including the implementation of new accounting standards.
  6. Assist the director of financial reporting with business combination accounting and impairment models.
  7. Provide necessary documentation and explanations for external auditors during the audit/review of consolidated financial statements.
  8. Review and update the risk control matrix (RCMs) based on current processes.
  9. Perform monthly tests for RCMs and document them for external auditor review.
  10. Carry out additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  1. A minimum of 3 years of experience in a public company with financial statements and MD&A preparation is essential.
  2. Current or previous experience working with auditors from major firms is required.
  3. Experience in internal controls and SOX compliance is necessary.
  4. At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role managing a team of 3 or more employees is required.
  5. Experience in preparing/auditing consolidated financial statements, including MD&A, and handling dual-currency transactions and consolidations is an asset.
  6. A broad understanding of all aspects of accounting is essential.
  7. Strong knowledge of IFRS is required.
  8. Excellent accounting research and analytical skills are necessary.
  9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and advanced Excel skills is required.
