Meta Cannabis Co. is on the lookout for a Financial Reporting Manager. Our organization is dynamic, expanding, and thriving in the cannabis retail sector. As a Financial Reporting Manager, your primary responsibility will be to collaborate with finance reporting analysts to generate financial statements, including Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) and account reconciliations for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, along with SOX controls testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and support the team as needed for the monthly consolidation of financial statements, including the preparation of notes to accounts and MD&A for the applicable period.
  • Ensure adherence to IFRS standards, policies, processes, and controls during the preparation of consolidated financial statements.
  • Prepare, review, and coordinate reconciliations of consolidated accounts.
  • Collaborate with operational accounting teams of both Canadian and international entities, tax, and other departments to implement best practices for account reconciliations.
  • Conduct technical research and document complex items, including the implementation of new accounting standards.
  • Assist the director of financial reporting with business combination accounting and impairment models.
  • Provide necessary documentation and explanations for external auditors during the audit/review of consolidated financial statements.
  • Review and update the risk control matrix (RCMs) based on current processes.
  • Conduct monthly tests for RCMs and document them for external auditor review.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

    Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a public company with financial statement and MD&A preparation is essential.
  • Current or prior experience working with auditors from major firms (e.g., EY, KPMG, PWC, Deloitte, Grant Thornton) is required.
  • Experience in internal controls and SOX compliance is necessary.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role managing a team of 3 or more employees is required.
  • Experience in preparing/auditing consolidated financial statements, including MD&A, and managing dual-currency transactions and consolidations is considered an asset.
  • A broad understanding of all facets of accounting is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS is required.
  • Excellent accounting research and analytical skills are necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and advanced Excel skills is essential.
