Meta Cannabis Co. is on the lookout for a Financial Reporting Manager. Our organization is dynamic, expanding, and thriving in the cannabis retail sector. In this role, you will collaborate with finance reporting analysts to compile financial statements, including Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) and account reconciliations for various reporting periods, as well as oversee SOX controls testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Facilitate and support the team in the monthly consolidation of financial statements, including the creation of notes to accounts and MD&A for the relevant periods.
  2. Ensure adherence to IFRS standards, policies, processes, and controls during the preparation of consolidated financial statements.
  3. Prepare, review, and coordinate reconciliations of consolidated accounts.
  4. Collaborate with operational accounting teams of both Canadian and international entities, as well as tax and other departments, to implement best practices for account reconciliations.
  5. Conduct technical research and document complex items, including the adoption of new accounting standards.
  6. Assist the director of financial reporting with business combination accounting and impairment assessments.
  7. Provide necessary documentation and explanations for external auditors during the audit/review of consolidated financial statements.
  8. Review and revise the risk control matrix (RCMs) based on current processes.
  9. Conduct monthly tests for RCMs and document findings for external auditor review.
  10. Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  1. A minimum of 3 years of experience in a public company involving financial statement and MD&A preparation is essential.
  2. Experience working with auditors from major firms (EY/KPMG/PWC/Deloitte/Grant Thornton) is required.
  3. Knowledge of internal controls and SOX compliance is necessary.
  4. At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role managing a team of 3 or more employees is required.
  5. Experience in preparing and auditing consolidated financial statements, including MD&A, with consideration for dual-currency transactions and consolidations is an asset.
  6. A broad understanding of all aspects of accounting is essential.
  7. Strong knowledge of IFRS is required.
  8. Excellent accounting research and analytical abilities are necessary.
  9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and advanced Excel skills is required.
