Position Summary

The Assistant Technical Manager plays a crucial role in supporting Property Managers and Technical Managers in overseeing the mandated preventative maintenance programs. This position is essential for ensuring the operational integrity and maintenance of all Crown Owned and Other Government Department assets under the RP1 contract. The role involves conducting on-site technical audits and inspections and assisting the National Contract Lead with technical reporting to clients.

Key Responsibilities

Audit and Inspection Duties

  • Conducts and verifies regular technical inspections and audits on maintenance tasks performed by third-party vendors or in-house technicians within their designated region, including reviewing reports and certifications from vendors.
  • Monitors identified deficiencies highlighted in audit reports and ensures timely corrective actions are implemented by the Property Management Team.
  • Collaborates with Property Management to develop and execute corrective action reports.
  • Evaluates technical maintenance processes and vendor scopes of work for compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Participates in investigations of non-conformances, deviations, or critical failures, working with the Property Management team to perform root cause analyses and validate recommended corrective actions.

Client and Industry Engagement

  • Engages in client-led audits and provides support to the BGIS Quality team and the National Contract Lead throughout the process.
  • Researches and comprehends industry regulations and best practices, including requirements from the Authority Having Jurisdiction, to identify potential improvements in current facilities maintenance procedures.

Support Functions

  • Maintains, in collaboration with the National Contract Lead, a comprehensive technical audit regime encompassing all programs mandated by the contract.
  • Assists the property team in ensuring the ongoing validation of CMMS inventory, monitoring, and accuracy, including relevant processes.

Communication and Reporting

  • Supports technical assessments and investigations, along with client ad-hoc reporting requirements.
  • Delivers audit reports focused on technical findings to the management team, summarizing, trending, and analyzing audit results across the contract.

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Demonstrated understanding of building-related technical systems, supported by a degree, diploma, or certificate in mechanical or electrical engineering or building science, along with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), with 5 to 7 years of experience.
  • Experience with Predictive Maintenance technologies, requiring a minimum of 7 years of related work experience.
  • Experience in conducting Preventive Maintenance Inspections, with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Exceptional observational skills and the ability to effectively interview maintenance team members and third-party service providers, with 5 to 7 years of experience.
  • Able to identify pertinent regulations and codes, interacting with Authorities Having Jurisdiction, with a minimum of 7 years of related work experience.
  • Experience in creating, developing, and administering process maps, with 5 to 7 years of experience.

Licenses and Professional Accreditation

  • Possession of Certified Technologist or Trades licenses is preferred.
