Position: Senior Ocean Freight Coordinator
Location: Office-Based in Mississauga, Monday to Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM
Job Overview: As a Senior Ocean Freight Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in overseeing ocean freight operations for both import and export activities. This position requires effective collaboration with transportation providers to ensure timely delivery and collection of shipments, diligent monitoring of cargo until it reaches its final destination, and the application of the most efficient shipping methods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage ocean freight for imports and exports, ensuring goods are delivered on time and within budget.
- Coordinate shipment pick-up and delivery with logistics partners; track and trace shipments until they arrive at their destination.
- Ensure all freight documentation and booking details are accurate before executing shipments, adhering to compliance protocols.
- Prepare necessary import/export paperwork, including House Bill of Lading (HBL), Master Bill of Lading (MBL), and Air Waybills.
- Engage with international offices and agents to confirm proper documentation and compliance for shipments.
- Work alongside customs brokers to facilitate customs clearance and compliance with relevant government regulations.
- Negotiate with carriers to obtain competitive freight rates while maintaining strong service relationships.
- Oversee documentation to fulfill customer and insurance requirements, ensuring adherence to international standards and fiscal policies.
- Provide outstanding client service and foster strong business relationships with clients and carriers.
- Handle all communications with clients and partners in a timely and professional manner.
- Address operational challenges and customer inquiries, implementing solutions to prevent future occurrences.
- Review supplier invoices and manage payment reconciliations.
- Ensure accurate billing of shipments, confirming all service charges are included and billed according to quotes.
- Perform additional duties as necessary to support the logistics team.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrated experience in logistics or a related field, particularly in managing ocean freight.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to maintain professional relationships.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities, with a focus on timely and precise documentation.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks and resolve issues efficiently.
- Dedication to delivering high-quality client service and maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders.
This role necessitates a physical presence in the office during standard working hours, ensuring dedicated management of logistics operations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
