Position: Mould Technician / Back Up Supervisor

Terms of Employment: Full-time / Permanent

Location: Stoney Creek, Ontario

Hours of Work: 40 hours/week

Salary: $30.00-$33.00 CAD per hour

Responsibilities:

  • Initiate machinery and robotic systems to prepare for daily production, setting up and operating moulding equipment to create plastic products as per specifications.
  • Modify moulds and adjust machinery for production line transitions, serving as a backup for mould changers during absences.
  • Diagnose and perform minor repairs on equipment using hand and pneumatic tools, assisting with basic maintenance tasks as trained.
  • Install and configure moulds according to company work instructions, monitoring product quality and adjusting machine settings as necessary.
  • Follow formulation guidelines to mix ingredient batches for the injection moulding process, managing material changes and ensuring efficient use of regrind.
  • Report all production or equipment issues to the supervisor, maintain material inventory, and uphold a clean workspace while promptly addressing potential hazards.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, engineering, quality assurance, and maintenance teams to analyze and resolve production and quality challenges.
  • Provide backup supervision during breaks and absences, ensuring new employees receive adequate training and support to meet performance targets.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a safe working environment through compliance with company safety practices.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field or equivalent work experience is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in injection moulding or a similar manufacturing setting is essential.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting experience with machinery is necessary.
  • Forklift certification and crane operation training are required.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn through on-the-job training are essential.
  • Flexibility for shift coverage is required.
