Moulding Operations Technician

Position: Mould Technician / Back Up Supervisor

Employment Type: Full-time / Permanent

Location: Stoney Creek, Ontario

Work Hours: 40 hours/week

Language Requirement: English

Compensation: $30.00-$33.00 CAD per hour

Benefits: Eligible for salary increases as per company policy. Includes extended health, dental, life insurance, and retirement savings plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Initiate machinery and robotic systems to prepare for daily production, and set up and operate moulding equipment to produce plastic items as per specifications.
  • Modify moulds and adjust machinery for production line transitions, serving as a backup for mould changers during absences.
  • Diagnose and perform minor repairs on equipment using hand and pneumatic tools, and assist with basic maintenance tasks as trained.
  • Install and configure moulds according to company work instructions, monitoring the quality of produced materials and adjusting machine settings as necessary.
  • Follow formulation guidelines to mix ingredient batches for the injection moulding process, managing materials effectively to minimize waste.
  • Report production or equipment issues to the supervisor, maintain material inventory, and ensure a clean working environment while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, engineering, quality assurance, and maintenance teams to analyze and resolve production and quality challenges.
  • Provide backup supervision during breaks and absences.
  • Ensure effective training for new employees, aiming to meet or exceed production targets.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a safe workplace through the enforcement of company policies.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in injection moulding or a similar manufacturing setting.
  • Proven mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with machinery and process troubleshooting.
  • Forklift certification and crane operation training.
  • Willingness to learn through hands-on training.
  • Basic computer skills are essential.
  • Availability for primary shift coverage and flexibility for alternative shifts.
