Role Summary

What is the opportunity?

As the Senior Vice President of Real Estate, you will lead and inspire a dedicated team of Relationship Managers (RMs), Directors, and Associate Directors to cultivate and expand RBC's business connections with prominent commercial real estate developers and investors. Your leadership will foster a culture of exceptional customer service, teamwork, and prudent risk management. You will guide the team in establishing and nurturing robust, long-lasting client relationships while driving sustainable profitability to uphold RBC's leading market presence.

Key Responsibilities

Client Engagement

  • Collaborate with clients and team members across various departments to comprehensively address our clients' banking requirements in credit, lending, and additional product offerings, including cash management and private banking, ensuring high Net Promoter Scores.
  • Lead the Client Relationship Team (CRT) in partnership with the Director/RM, coordinating efforts to implement a unified client management strategy based on client prioritization and annual review processes.

Business Development & Relationship Management

  • Showcase your industry expertise by enhancing the RBC brand and increasing visibility through the development and maintenance of a network within the business community, including CRE developers, investors, and other key stakeholders.
  • Drive business performance to meet market and sales targets through effective sales management practices that add value to the team while balancing operational and credit risk considerations.

Team Development & Engagement

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and continuous coaching to specialized Real Estate Relationship Managers, fostering employee engagement through targeted sales practices and risk management.
  • Champion organizational change by inspiring your team to deliver timely solutions that meet client needs while proactively identifying opportunities to enhance and expand the RBC brand.

Risk Management

  • Set an example by diligently evaluating and managing credit, operational, market, and AML risks.
  • Continuously monitor the portfolio to safeguard the Bank, taking prompt action to ensure favorable outcomes.

Qualifications for Success

Essential Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial banking is preferred.
  • Strong business acumen with extensive knowledge in assessing, structuring, and managing large, complex real estate credit portfolios.
  • Proven experience in leading and mentoring professional sales teams to achieve high performance standards.
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development among team members, alongside personal growth as a leader and coach.
  • In-depth understanding of credit management, product and pricing policies, privacy regulations, and overall business operations.
  • A strong sales orientation with a demonstrated commitment to prioritizing client needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant experience and connections within the Real Estate sector across British Columbia.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage a geographically diverse and mobile team.
  • A post-secondary diploma/degree, MBA, or relevant professional designation.
