Position Overview: The Senior Vice President, Real Estate Credit is the principal authority on credit matters within the Real Estate sector, nurturing strategic alliances to achieve the organization's overarching objectives while concentrating on the most intricate client segments.

Client Engagement: Cultivates a cooperative atmosphere by collaborating with Vice Presidents to address clients' credit requirements through contributions and proactive assistance in updating SLR, documentation, and follow-ups.

  • Motivates the team to collaborate with peers to implement a unified client management strategy as directed by client prioritization and annual review protocols.
  • Available to assist Associate Directors in addressing immediate client demands.
  • Proactively participates in industry events to foster client solutions and new client acquisition.
  • Maintains strong engagement and knowledge with key financial institutions and legal partners for complex syndication transactions.
  • Mentors and guides the team to deliver credit solutions that meet or surpass client expectations while identifying additional opportunities for product and service expansion.
  • Oversees the credit renewal process for the region in collaboration with Vice Presidents, ensuring effectiveness and proactivity in managing fluctuating volumes and transaction requirements.
  • Works alongside the CFS relationship team and CAG/GRM partners to ensure timely delivery of credit solutions to clients.

Team Development and Engagement: Demonstrates a commitment to teamwork and collaboration by coaching, mentoring, and supporting colleagues in fulfilling the credit needs of all clients.

  • Encourages team members to leverage technology effectively to execute client strategies, sales activities, and opportunities while fostering corporate memory for continuity in client service.
  • Engages in workforce planning with the Regional Vice President and maintains an active talent pipeline; assists in providing credit coaching to all Vice Presidents on structuring complex transactions and introducing improvements in credit processes.
  • Continues to develop a center of expertise in complex Real Estate credit to support field training and advisory services.

Business and Risk Management: Collaborates with Vice Presidents of Real Estate Markets to ensure that market credit needs are adequately addressed.

  • In partnership with the Portfolio Quality Manager, provides expert guidance to Vice Presidents to resolve complex issues related to ongoing portfolio management.
  • Exhibits sound judgment in decision-making, balancing shareholder risk with client experience.
  • Stays informed on all communications, including updates to company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance among team members.
  • Manages Single Name Risk Rating (SNRR), Expired BRRs, and SLR processes in alignment with established goals and guidelines, working closely with Vice Presidents to meet portfolio metrics and proactively manage watchlist accounts.

Qualifications: Proven leadership and performance management capabilities, with extensive knowledge of large, complex real estate credit exposures, the financial industry, and commercial banking.

Strong operational effectiveness, with a solid understanding of credit management, product and pricing policies, privacy regulations, code of conduct, anti-money laundering requirements, and overall business operations.

Educational Background: MBA, Accounting designation (CPA/CA/CGA/CMA), or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
