Position Overview:

The Perioperative Quality Lead (PQL) is responsible for overseeing the development, execution, and assessment of quality initiatives impacting perioperative care within the Pediatric Perioperative Service. Reporting to the Manager of Pediatric Perioperative Services, the PQL collaborates with various quality roles across programs to enhance the overall quality of perioperative services. This role is essential in driving improvements in quality practices and aligning with IWK Health's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and implementation of quality improvement initiatives, including the identification of performance indicators and auditing processes.
  • Support continuous quality improvement efforts focused on operational efficiency and resource management.
  • Collaborate with clinical leaders to establish a quality improvement framework for surgical indicators.
  • Analyze data to enhance service effectiveness and quality.
  • Provide leadership and support to the perioperative team in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in the formulation and implementation of perioperative policies and procedures.
Work Schedule:

Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 0800 – 1600h.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related field is required.
  • Eligibility for registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses.
  • BLS-C (HCP) Certification is mandatory.
  • Minimum of five years of recent experience in Perioperative Services, preferably in pediatric settings.
  • Experience in a Quality Improvement role is advantageous.

Additional Skills: Familiarity with quality systems, process improvement methodologies, and project management is preferred. Strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills are essential for success in this role.
