Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Pediatric Perioperative Services, the Clinical Development Leader (CDL) is responsible for administering and delivering the integrated Perioperative Nursing Course, facilitated by the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN). The CDL serves as a vital resource for interdisciplinary team members by identifying, prioritizing, implementing, and evaluating strategies that enhance competency development and maintenance.

  • Oversee and instruct new staff participating in the AORN Perioperative Course, including onboarding, clinical labs, and preceptor coordination.
  • Facilitate ongoing orientation and learning for new and transferring staff, along with learner placement initiatives.
  • Demonstrate commitment to professional development and mentorship.
  • Support and guide new team members through teaching, role modeling, and coaching.
  • Assist preceptors in the performance review process for new staff.
  • Identify clinical education needs and collaborate with management and team leaders to address them.
  • Model professional practice and promote safe care delivery.
  • Act as a clinical resource for staff regarding patient and family care issues.
  • Ensure the application of the nursing process in delivering family-centered care aligned with the organization's philosophy and mission.
Work Schedule

7.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday (flexibility required)

Qualifications
  • Registered or eligible for registration with CRNNS.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Minimum of three years of recent clinical experience in a perioperative setting, specifically in operating rooms with multiple surgical services.
  • Experience in pediatric perioperative nursing is an asset.
  • Current CPR Level-C Healthcare Provider certification required.
  • Certification in appropriate Beyond Entry Level Competencies (BELC) required.
  • Recent experience in a preceptor role is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience is an asset.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment is essential.
  • CNA Certification in perioperative nursing is an asset.
  • Commitment to lifelong learning is required.
  • Continuing education in adult education, leadership, or team training is an asset.
  • Strong time management, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Proven leadership, delegation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Competencies in additional languages are considered an asset, with French preferred.
