About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisor to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily operation of our OR theaters, ensuring that patients receive excellent care and their surgical journey is coordinated.

The Supervisor will provide support and decision-making to the departments as it relates to efficiency and utilization of resources, and will ensure that all care areas are appropriately staffed on a day-to-day basis. The Supervisor will also supervise and coordinate activities of personnel, including creating and maintaining staff schedules for nursing and support staff.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in perioperative nursing, with at least two years of experience in a leadership role. They will be proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, and will have experience with staff scheduling and conflict management.

The Supervisor will work closely with other departments within NSH to ensure efficient, safe operation of the unit itself, including MDR, Maintenance, HVAC, and IT.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree
  • Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN)
  • Perioperative Nursing Program (PONP), or equivalent
  • Five years of experience working in a perioperative environment
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with staff scheduling and conflict management
  • Excellent communication and conflict management skills
  • Problem-solving abilities with the perioperative environment
  • Competence in coaching and mentoring others
  • Competencies in other languages, French an asset
Hours

The successful candidate will work full-time, with a 75-hour bi-weekly schedule.

Compensation and Incentives

The hourly rate for this position is $53.35. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
