Are you a dedicated Occupational Therapist with a strong commitment to enhancing the lives of others? We have an exceptional opportunity for you to leverage your expertise in a vibrant Primary Care setting.

In alignment with a person and family-centered approach to healthcare and in accordance with Northern Health's vision for an ideal service system grounded in Primary Health Care, the Primary Care Occupational Therapist (OT) collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to create individualized care plans and deliver health services coordinated through the Primary Care Home.

The OT adheres to the professional standards and ethical guidelines set forth by the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia.

The OT ensures competent, safe, and ethical care for individuals and their families across various environments, including physician offices, residences, facilities, and community settings, applying evidence-informed practices to achieve positive outcomes related to their engagement in meaningful activities.

Through comprehensive clinical assessments, treatment planning, recommended interventions, and follow-up care, the occupational therapist plays a vital role in fulfilling the overall care plan developed by the interdisciplinary team, informed by the individual's personal care goals.


Work Schedule: Monday to Friday; 08:00 to 12:00

About Mackenzie & District Hospital and Health Centre
Mackenzie & District Hospital and Health Centre is a five-bed acute care facility with four long-term care beds. Services encompass medical and emergency care, as well as medical imaging, laboratory services, mental health, and substance use support. A medical clinic is also available.

Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
  • Registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Assessment and Treatment: Proven ability to conduct initial and ongoing assessments and implement appropriate therapeutic interventions.
  • Teaching: Capability to instruct both individually and in group settings.
  • Knowledge Integration: Incorporates best practices and current research evidence to inform professional practice decisions.
  • Communication: Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with individuals, families, the public, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members. Proficient in resolving interpersonal conflicts.
  • Critical Thinking: Proven ability to synthesize and evaluate relevant data from multiple sources to effectively problem-solve and make informed decisions.
  • Human Caring and Relationship-Centered Practice: Ability to promote person-centered care while being sensitive to diverse cultures, social justice issues, and advocacy needs.
  • Management: Demonstrated ability to organize work, establish objectives, prioritize tasks, and achieve results.
  • Leadership: Fosters staff morale, engagement, and empowerment. Exhibits innovative planning for change and adherence to NH policies and protocols.
  • Teamwork: Proven ability to cultivate teamwork and a commitment to excellence in delivering person-centered care.
  • Equipment: Proficient in computer skills, including Meditech and Windows-based applications. Capable of data analysis and reporting, as well as proficient in email and word processing.
