Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct mechanical and material properties characterization in accordance with ISO/ASTM standards, including ICP-OES, powder testing, metallography, chemical analysis, and mechanical testing.
  • Perform laboratory testing while strictly following safety protocols.
  • Accurately document test results and prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Manage the lab's consumables inventory to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with ISO17025 and NADCAP standards for Heat Treatment and Materials Testing.
  • Review and assist with the maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Once trained, mentor Co-Op students in relevant testing methodologies.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding daily tasks and project timelines.
  • Handle multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities efficiently.
  • Proactively engage in standard operating procedures while seeking guidance when necessary.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Technical college degree in laboratory operations or equivalent experience in a materials testing environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage diverse tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Experience with chemical and metal processing equipment is an asset.

Training and Technical Knowledge:

  • Quick learning ability to grasp technical procedures and adhere to them consistently.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Familiarity with ISO17025 and NADCAP accreditation processes.
  • Understanding of inventory management.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety standards.

Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • Strong multitasking and teamwork capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; adept at problem-solving.
  • Ability to coordinate with manufacturing teams as needed.
  • Attention to detail and effective time management skills.
