Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct mechanical and material properties evaluations in accordance with ISO/ASTM standards, including ICP-OES, powder analysis, metallography, chemical assessments, physical and mechanical testing, and non-destructive testing (NDT).
  • Perform laboratory tests while strictly following safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Accurately document test results and generate comprehensive reports for all laboratory evaluations.
  • Manage the lab's consumables inventory to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with ISO17025 and NADCAP standards for Heat Treatment and Materials Testing.
  • Review and contribute to monthly maintenance schedules and aid in the repair and documentation of malfunctioning equipment.
  • Once trained, mentor Co-Op students on relevant testing methodologies.
  • Maintain open communication with supervisors regarding daily tasks to optimize efficiency.
  • Handle routine correspondence and manage multiple projects with varying priorities and deadlines.
  • Exercise initiative within established procedures while ensuring a careful approach and seeking necessary approvals.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Technical degree in laboratory operations or a minimum of three years of relevant experience in a materials testing laboratory.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to manage diverse tasks and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
  • Experience with chemical and metal processing equipment or powder testing in an industrial setting is advantageous.

Training and Technical Knowledge:

  • Strong learning agility is essential; the successful candidate must quickly grasp technical procedures and consistently adhere to them, as training will be provided on specific equipment and standardized testing methods.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Familiarity with ISO17025 and NADCAP accreditation standards.
  • Understanding of inventory management.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and guidelines.

Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • Strong multitasking abilities, teamwork, and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; adept at problem-solving and troubleshooting.
  • Capability to coordinate with the manufacturing team as necessary.
  • Attention to detail, critical thinking, and effective time management are crucial.
