Key Responsibilities

  • Execute field investigations, analyze soil samples, and gather field data with precision and organization.
  • Travel to diverse project sites to collect soil samples at varying depths utilizing specialized drilling equipment.
  • Supervise drilling operations and gather soil and groundwater samples.
  • Manage multiple projects, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, and schedule while meeting client expectations.
  • Collaborate effectively with the project team and maintain open lines of communication.
  • Work alongside construction personnel, including structural engineers, architects, and landscapers.
  • Conduct fieldwork related to a variety of geotechnical projects, including borehole drilling, test pitting, and independent reviews of civil construction stages.
  • Interpret technical specifications and drawings accurately.
  • Organize and manage all project-related field notes, including data entry and preparation of field reports.
  • Analyze data and compile technical reports, work plans, and project specifications.
  • Coordinate and liaise with contractors, clients, and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications

  • A degree or diploma in a relevant engineering field, with registration as CET or EIT in Ontario, or eligibility for registration.
  • Relevant coursework or experience in soil and rock mechanics, site investigation methods, and laboratory testing procedures.
  • Experience in materials testing, including compaction testing and geotechnical laboratory analysis.
  • Familiarity with software such as gINT, AutoCAD, and soil analysis databases.
  • Knowledge of total station and RTK GPS survey techniques.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively within the project team.
  • Physical capability to navigate rough terrain, climb ladders, and lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
