Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct mechanical and material properties characterization in accordance with ISO/ASTM standards, including ICP-OES, powder testing, metallography, chemical analysis, and non-destructive testing (NDT).
  • Perform laboratory testing while strictly following safety protocols.
  • Accurately document test results and generate comprehensive reports.
  • Manage the lab's consumables inventory to avoid operational interruptions.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with ISO17025 and NADCAP standards for Heat Treatment and Materials Testing.
  • Review and support preventative maintenance plans for laboratory equipment.
  • Train Co-Op students on relevant testing methodologies once adequately trained.
  • Maintain effective communication with supervisors regarding daily tasks and priorities.
  • Handle multiple projects and tasks while adapting to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Exercise initiative within established procedures while seeking guidance when necessary.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Technical college degree in laboratory operations or a minimum of three years of relevant experience in a materials testing environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage diverse tasks and maintain organization in a fast-paced setting.
  • Experience with chemical and metal processing equipment or powder testing in an industrial context is advantageous.

Training and Technical Knowledge:

  • Quick learning ability for technical procedures, with a commitment to adherence post-training.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Familiarity with ISO17025 and NADCAP accreditation standards.
  • Understanding of inventory management.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety practices.

Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • Strong multitasking, teamwork, and time management capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; adept at problem-solving.
  • Ability to coordinate with manufacturing teams as needed.
  • Attention to detail, critical thinking, and effective time management.
