The Role: Category Manager - Cheese & Dairy

We are seeking a passionate and driven Category Manager to join our Purchasing and Merchandising team. Reporting to the Purchasing Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our cheese and dairy product offerings. Your responsibilities will encompass developing and executing merchandising strategies, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring optimal inventory management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supplier Relationships & Negotiation:
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers in the cheese and dairy industry.
    • Negotiate favorable purchase agreements, pricing structures, and promotional schedules.
    • Conduct market research to identify competitive pricing trends and ensure our offerings remain competitive.
  • Product Development & Innovation:
    • Identify emerging product trends and opportunities within the cheese and dairy sector.
    • Collaborate with suppliers to develop new and innovative products that align with Lufa Farms' values and customer preferences.
  • Merchandising Excellence:
    • Develop and implement merchandising strategies to optimize product placement, visibility, and sales.
    • Conduct regular audits of your category to ensure adherence to company standards and identify areas for improvement.
    • Analyze customer feedback and market data to inform merchandising decisions and enhance the overall shopping experience.
  • Team Leadership & Performance Management:
    • Provide guidance and support to junior buyers within your team.
    • Monitor inventory levels, sales performance, and profitability metrics for your category.
    • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and optimize operational processes.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in both French and English.
  • Strong negotiation skills and a proven ability to build relationships with suppliers.
  • A passion for the food industry and a deep understanding of cheese and dairy products.
  • Post-secondary education in business administration, marketing, or a related field.
