About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Dietitian to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our nutrition services team, you will be responsible for providing expert clinical nutrition advice and support to patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide competent, safe, and ethical professional practice to patients, families, and communities
  • Advise on diet and food and nutrition across all health sectors
  • Lead team efforts to support the nutritional health of patients, clients, and communities through health promotion, disease prevention, treatment, support, and rehabilitation
  • Participate in the Integrated Dietetic Internship program, including preceptoring dietetic interns
  • Contribute to client care through collaboration with healthcare team providers, sharing nutrition expertise, ensuring quality and continuity of care, and supporting a range of healthcare services

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with major concentration in Foods and Nutrition
  • Dietetic Internship Program
  • Current registration (or eligibility) with the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association
  • Minimum one (1) year working experience as a dietitian
  • Inpatient clinical nutrition experience an asset
  • Competency in dysphagia management, enteral, and parenteral nutrition
  • Experience counselling patients in an outpatient setting
  • Current WHMIS an asset
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications, familiarity with the Meditech information system an asset
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize, problem solve, and work under pressure of time limitations
  • Demonstrated participation in continuing education and upgrading of skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
