Position Overview

This is a part-time role, requiring up to 24 hours of work per week.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of all Grand River Transit (GRT) buses, Mobility PLUS vehicles, and other support vehicles, including those used by supervisors and fleet support operations. The position involves working various shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends, and may require transfers to different Regional work sites.

Essential Qualifications

  • Completion of grade 12 education with proficiency in reading, writing, mathematics, and communication, along with a minimum of one year of experience in servicing diverse vehicles and equipment.
  • Familiarity with corporate policies, procedures, and relevant legislation concerning vehicle maintenance, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, and the Highway Traffic Act.
  • Ability to work autonomously, with oversight from a supervisor, and to consult with supervisors regarding changes in parking assignments and bus delays due to repairs, as well as to seek assistance from technicians for complex repairs.
  • A valid Class DZ driver's license and a satisfactory driving record are required to operate Regional vehicles.
  • Provision of an acceptable Police Information Check (Level 2) is necessary for bondability.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with colleagues and contribute positively as a team member.
  • Capability to interpret fuel and mileage records and defect reports, along with the ability to document any identified defects.
