Position Overview:

The Facility Maintenance Attendant is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of the building environment. This role involves a variety of cleaning tasks and preparation for facility rentals, including the arrangement and disassembly of furniture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sanitize and clean sinks, countertops, toilets, and all high-touch areas.
  • Polish stainless steel surfaces to maintain their shine.
  • Maintain floors through various methods including dry and wet mopping, scrubbing, and buffing.
  • Dust and clean furniture and shelving units.
  • Ensure entrance doors, windows, and glass surfaces are clean.
  • Disinfect water fountains regularly.
  • Manage waste disposal, including garbage, compost, and recycling.
  • Restock supplies such as paper towels and toilet paper.
  • Clean and maintain lockers.
  • Respond promptly to spills and other cleaning emergencies.
  • Sweep and damp mop staircases.
  • Report any damage or vandalism to the appropriate authorities.
  • Order and replenish cleaning supplies as needed.
  • Set up and take down rental equipment, including tables and chairs.
  • Prepare floors for events by mopping and cleaning.
  • Arrange furniture according to specifications.
  • Return equipment to storage after use.
  • Utilize various floor cleaning machines effectively.
  • Assist in the annual maintenance of floors, including stripping and waxing.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of partial secondary education and a minimum of three months of experience in a custodial role.
  • Availability to work flexible shifts as required.
  • Understanding of industry-standard cleaning techniques and floor care.
  • Proven experience in custodial services.
  • Familiarity with Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) for safe handling of materials.
  • Knowledge of custodial equipment and its safe operation.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • A valid driver's license may be necessary.
  • Dependability and a positive work ethic are essential.
