Position Overview:

The Facility Maintenance Attendant is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of the building facilities. This role involves performing a variety of cleaning tasks and preparing the venue for events by setting up and dismantling furniture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Thoroughly clean and sanitize sinks, countertops, toilets, walls, and showers, along with all frequently touched surfaces.
  • Polish stainless steel fixtures to maintain a pristine appearance.
  • Maintain floors through various methods including dry and wet mopping, scrubbing, and buffing.
  • Dust and clean furniture, shelves, and other surfaces.
  • Ensure entrance doors, windows, and glass surfaces are clean and clear.
  • Sanitize water fountains to promote hygiene.
  • Manage waste disposal by emptying garbage, compost, and recycling bins.
  • Restock supplies such as paper towels and toilet paper.
  • Wipe down lockers and other shared spaces.
  • Respond promptly to spills and other cleaning requests throughout the day.
  • Maintain cleanliness in stairwells through sweeping and damp mopping.
  • Report any damage or vandalism to the appropriate supervisory personnel.
  • Order cleaning supplies and ensure stock levels are maintained.
  • Set up and take down rental equipment as needed.
  • Prepare floors for events by mopping and cleaning.
  • Arrange tables and chairs according to specifications.
  • Return tables and chairs to storage after events.
  • Utilize various floor cleaning equipment effectively.
  • Assist in the annual maintenance of floors, including stripping and waxing.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of partial secondary education and a minimum of three months of experience in a custodial role.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts to meet operational needs.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard cleaning techniques and floor care.
  • Demonstrated experience in custodial services.
  • Familiarity with the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) for safe handling of cleaning materials.
  • Proficient in the safe operation of custodial equipment, including floor scrubbers and steam cleaners.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record may be required.
  • Dependable with a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
