Position Overview:
The Facility Maintenance Attendant is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of the building facilities. This role involves performing a variety of cleaning tasks and preparing the venue for events by setting up and dismantling furniture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Thoroughly clean and sanitize sinks, countertops, toilets, walls, and showers, along with all frequently touched surfaces.
- Polish stainless steel fixtures to maintain a pristine appearance.
- Maintain floors through various methods including dry and wet mopping, scrubbing, and buffing.
- Dust and clean furniture, shelves, and other surfaces.
- Ensure entrance doors, windows, and glass surfaces are clean and clear.
- Sanitize water fountains to promote hygiene.
- Manage waste disposal by emptying garbage, compost, and recycling bins.
- Restock supplies such as paper towels and toilet paper.
- Wipe down lockers and other shared spaces.
- Respond promptly to spills and other cleaning requests throughout the day.
- Maintain cleanliness in stairwells through sweeping and damp mopping.
- Report any damage or vandalism to the appropriate supervisory personnel.
- Order cleaning supplies and ensure stock levels are maintained.
- Set up and take down rental equipment as needed.
- Prepare floors for events by mopping and cleaning.
- Arrange tables and chairs according to specifications.
- Return tables and chairs to storage after events.
- Utilize various floor cleaning equipment effectively.
- Assist in the annual maintenance of floors, including stripping and waxing.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Completion of partial secondary education and a minimum of three months of experience in a custodial role.
- Flexibility to work various shifts to meet operational needs.
- Knowledge of industry-standard cleaning techniques and floor care.
- Demonstrated experience in custodial services.
- Familiarity with the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) for safe handling of cleaning materials.
- Proficient in the safe operation of custodial equipment, including floor scrubbers and steam cleaners.
- Strong customer service skills.
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record may be required.
- Dependable with a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
