Position OverviewAs an integral member of the healthcare team, the Business Clerk is responsible for delivering clerical, administrative, and business support to patients, families, and healthcare providers.
This role encompasses a variety of functions, adhering to the established job description for Business Clerks.
Work ScheduleDays, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications
1. Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
2. Graduation from a community college secretarial or office administration program, or equivalent experience in an office setting
3. Experience in an Emergency Department is preferred
4. Medical Terminology Certificate 1 and 2, or equivalent knowledge demonstrated through experience in a similar role, subject to testing
5. Proficient keyboarding skills at a minimum of 40 words per minute
6. Familiarity with Meditech, MS Exchange, and MS Word
7. Strong mathematical skills related to patient billing
8. Effective communication skills (both verbal and written), along with strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
9. Capacity to prioritize tasks and organize workload efficiently
10. Ability to collaborate effectively with various hospital departments
11. Understanding of the confidential nature of the position
12. Capability to sit for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
13. Adaptability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
