Your Role as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer

EXP is currently looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer with a strong background in tunneling projects to enhance our engineering team in Brampton, Ontario. Reporting directly to the Geotechnical Division Manager, the ideal candidate will offer technical expertise and project management across various initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cultivating and sustaining business relationships with clients.
  • Drafting project proposals for geotechnical services, including cost estimates and timelines.
  • Planning and executing assignments that require a broad understanding of geotechnical engineering and related fields.
  • Applying standard procedures and tailored methods to analyze unique project requirements.
  • Coordinating with clients, suppliers, and third parties to meet project objectives.
  • Overseeing projects to fulfill client requirements, including staff management, scheduling, and budget control.
  • Directing field activities such as investigations, monitoring, and testing on construction sites.
  • Participating in project meetings and conducting site inspections as needed.
  • Analyzing data from geotechnical instrumentation programs.
  • Composing and reviewing technical documentation.
  • Collaborating with senior staff on complex issues and decisions.
  • Conducting independent studies and analyses.
  • Working autonomously with minimal supervision based on assignment complexity.
  • Engaging with clients, contractors, consultants, and municipal staff.
  • Pursuing continuous professional development and sharing knowledge with colleagues.
  • Mentoring and developing junior and intermediate geotechnical staff.

Qualifications

  • Valid designation from Ontario is essential.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Geotechnical, Civil, or Geological Engineering; a postgraduate degree is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, particularly in tunneling, ideally in a consulting environment.
  • Experience managing engineering teams comprising intermediate and junior professionals.
  • Ability to develop comprehensive scopes of work tailored to client needs.
  • Proficiency in high-level engineering principles.
  • Ensuring compliance with standards and criteria.
  • Maintaining budgetary oversight, including adjustments due to client needs and site conditions.
  • Timely and accurate reporting of project assignments.
  • Managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Proven ability in business development for geotechnical services.
  • Experience with complex geotechnical investigations and design work.
  • Demonstrated mentoring of junior engineering staff.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact diplomatically with staff, clients, and contractors.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, including multitasking and prioritization.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Familiarity with standard construction practices and methodologies.
  • Capacity to work effectively in a team setting.
  • Advanced experience in computer analysis.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and vehicle.
