Your Role as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer
EXP is currently in search of a Senior Geotechnical Engineer with a strong background in tunneling projects to enhance our engineering team. Reporting directly to the Geotechnical Division Manager, the ideal candidate will be responsible for providing technical expertise and project oversight across various assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Cultivating and sustaining professional relationships with clients.
- Drafting project proposals for geotechnical services, including cost assessments and timelines.
- Planning and executing tasks that require a comprehensive understanding of geotechnical engineering, while also considering related technical fields.
- Employing a mix of standard methodologies and tailored approaches for analyzing unique project requirements.
- Coordinating with clients, suppliers, and external parties to meet project goals.
- Overseeing project management to fulfill client objectives, including staff and contractor management, work scheduling, and budget oversight.
- Directing field operations, including investigations, monitoring, and testing on construction sites.
- Participating in project meetings and conducting site evaluations when advanced technical guidance is necessary.
- Analyzing and interpreting data from geotechnical instrumentation programs.
- Preparing and reviewing technical documentation and reports.
- Collaborating with senior staff on complex and challenging issues.
- Conducting independent analyses and drawing conclusions.
- Working autonomously with minimal supervision, depending on task complexity.
- Engaging with clients, contractors, consultants, municipal staff, and other stakeholders.
- Pursuing continuous professional development and sharing knowledge with others.
- Mentoring and guiding junior and intermediate geotechnical staff.
Qualifications
- Required designation from Ontario.
- Bachelor's Degree in Geotechnical, Civil, or Geological Engineering; a postgraduate degree is preferred.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, particularly in tunneling, ideally within a consulting environment.
- Experience managing engineering teams comprising intermediate and junior professionals.
- Ability to develop detailed scopes of work tailored to client specifications.
- Proficiency in applying advanced engineering principles.
- Ensuring compliance with established standards and criteria.
- Maintaining budgetary control and managing changes in project scope.
- Timely and accurate reporting of project assignments.
- Capability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Proven track record in business development for geotechnical services.
- Experience with intricate geotechnical investigations and design tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineering personnel.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact diplomatically with clients, consultants, and contractors.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, including multitasking and prioritization.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Familiarity with standard construction practices and methodologies.
- Team-oriented mindset.
- Advanced skills in computer analysis.
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
