About the Role

We are seeking a Director of National Grants & Foundations to play a crucial role in our National Development team. This position is essential for securing, managing, and expanding a diverse range of grant and foundation partnerships across Canada.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Development:
    • Formulate and implement a comprehensive strategy for grants and foundations that aligns with our organizational objectives.
    • Identify and pursue new funding opportunities, crafting tailored engagement strategies for potential partners.
    • Collaborate with leadership and regional teams to ensure grant initiatives support broader organizational goals.
  2. Grant Management:
    • Oversee the entire grant application process, ensuring high-quality proposals and thorough documentation.
    • Manage a portfolio of grant-funded projects, tracking compliance and reporting requirements.
    • Work closely with our mission team to compile data and success stories for grant submissions.
    • Drive revenue growth, managing a portfolio with a target of $1.7M.
  3. Relationship Management:
    • Engage with granting organizations to explore potential partnerships.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with foundation representatives and key stakeholders.
    • Organize and facilitate meetings and presentations with current and prospective donors.
    • Develop stewardship plans to foster ongoing support from donors.
  4. Team Leadership:
    • Supervise and mentor team members, fostering a collaborative environment.
    • Lead the National Virtual Grants & Foundations Team, focusing on fundraising initiatives.
    • Conduct performance evaluations to enhance team effectiveness.
  5. Research and Development:
    • Direct prospect research to identify new grant opportunities.
    • Implement a clearance process for potential prospects in collaboration with regional partners.
    • Develop strategies for engaging and soliciting prospects effectively.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience in grant writing or fundraising within the nonprofit sector.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated success in securing significant grant funding.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian foundations and grant-making organizations.
  • Exceptional writing and presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire diverse stakeholders.
  • Highly organized with strong project management capabilities.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems.
  • A clear Criminal Background Check will be required.

Work Environment

  • Hybrid work model with a mix of in-office and remote work.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
