Role Overview

As a Medical Support Specialist, you will provide high-quality patient care in both Acute and Post-Acute Care settings. Your responsibilities will encompass assisting patients with personal hygiene needs, daily living activities, and mobility, all while adhering to their individual care plans.

You will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being of our patients by providing mouth care, feeding assistance, and meticulous skin care to prevent and treat Hospital Acquired Pressure Injuries. Your compassionate approach will be especially valuable when working with patients living with dementia, as you will implement stimulating activities and engage them in meaningful interactions.

You will work independently under the guidance of a licensed healthcare professional, demonstrating your expertise and commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Ontario College Certificate in Personal Support Work
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) program, Level II: Basic Rescuer certification
  • Current CPR & First Aid
  • Proven experience using proper body mechanics for patient transport
  • Knowledge of mobility devices and person-centered care principles
  • Recent patient care experience is highly preferred
Assets
  • Gentle Persuasive Approach Certification is an asset
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system

Employment Requirements

Applicants must provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check and successfully complete a Health Care Worker Health review process. A mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy is in place.
