Medical Device Reprocessing Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Device Reprocessing Technician to join our team at Northumberland Hills Hospital.
About the Role:As a Medical Device Reprocessing Technician, you will be responsible for directing and assisting in the daily operation of the department, ensuring the proper cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of medical equipment and devices. You will also be responsible for evaluating new and replacement products, assessing the 24-hour need for sterile supplies and equipment, and implementing and evaluating processes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Direct and assist in the daily operation of the department
- Evaluate new and replacement products
- Assess the 24-hour need for sterile supplies and equipment
- Implement and evaluate processes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards
- Work independently and as part of a team to achieve departmental goals
- Successful completion of a Medical Device Reprocessing Certificate from an approved accredited community college
- Recent experience in medical device reprocessing, as defined by PIDAC documents and adopted by NHH
- Certification with the Medical Device Reprocessing Association of Ontario (MDRAO)
- Ability to learn new techniques, policies, and procedures
- Knowledge of decontamination, disinfection, and sterile technique procedures, medical/surgical supplies, and equipment
- Good time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks
- Ability to work with precision and accuracy
- Computer skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook
- 1-year recent experience in the Medical Device Reprocessing Department
The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods, and to lift, bend, push, and pull equipment and supplies. The candidate will also be exposed to various chemical, physical, and mechanical hazards.
Employment Requirements:The successful applicant will be required to provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check, completed within the first sixty (60) days of employment. Additionally, the applicant will be required to complete the Health Care Worker Health review process, including providing an up-to-date immunization record, within the first thirty (30) days of employment.
