Medical Device Reprocessing Specialist

Northumberland Hills Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Medical Device Reprocessing Technician to join our team.
Job Summary:The Medical Device Reprocessing Technician is responsible for directing and assisting in the daily operation of the department, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the 24-hour need for sterile supplies and equipment for all patient care areas.
Key Responsibilities:- Direct and assist in the daily operation of the department
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the 24-hour need for sterile supplies and equipment
- Evaluate new and replacement products
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with staff, physicians, and other stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital policies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of safety and excellence
- Successful completion of a Medical Device Reprocessing Certificate from an approved accredited community college
- Recent experience as defined per PIDAC documents and adopted by NHH
- Certification with the Medical Device Reprocessing Association of Ontario (MDRAO)
- Ability to learn new techniques, policies, and procedures
- Knowledge of decontamination, disinfection, and sterile technique procedures, medical/surgical supplies, and equipment
- Good time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member
- Demonstrated ability to work with precision and accuracy
- Computer skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook
- 1-year recent experience in the MDRD
The Medical Device Reprocessing Technician will work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to various chemical, physical, and mechanical hazards. The ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods, repetitive lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling are required.
Employment Requirements:Successful applicants are required to provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check and complete the Health Care Worker Health review process, including providing an up-to-date immunization record, within the first sixty (60) days of employment.
