Role Overview
Reporting to the Director of Nutrition, Housekeeping, and CSR, the Medical Device Reprocessing Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the availability of sterile supplies and equipment for all patient care areas. This position involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the 24-hour needs of the department while staying informed about new and replacement products.
Responsibilities
- Direct and assist in the daily operations of the Medical Device Reprocessing Department.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the 24-hour need for sterile supplies and equipment across all patient care areas.
- Evaluate new and replacement products for suitability and effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a Medical Device Reprocessing Certificate from an accredited community college is required.
- Recent experience (within the last 5 years) as defined by PIDAC documents and adopted by NHH.
- Certification with the Medical Device Reprocessing Association of Ontario (MDRAO).
- Ability to learn new techniques, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of decontamination, disinfection, sterilization processes, and safety protocols.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Working Conditions
This role may involve working in a fast-paced environment with exposure to medical equipment and materials. Adherence to strict safety protocols is essential.
