Job Title: Medical Device Reprocessing Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Device Reprocessing Technician to join our team at Northumberland Hills Hospital. As a key member of our department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient reprocessing of medical devices.

Job Summary:

The Medical Device Reprocessing Technician is responsible for directing and assisting in the daily operation of the department. This includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the 24-hour need for sterile supplies and equipment for all patient care areas. The successful candidate will also be responsible for evaluating new and replacement products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct and assist in the daily operation of the department
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the 24-hour need for sterile supplies and equipment
  • Evaluate new and replacement products
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of decontamination, disinfection, and sterile technique procedures
  • Collaborate with the Director of Nutrition, Housekeeping, and CSR to ensure the effective operation of the department
Requirements:
  • Successful completion of a Medical Device Reprocessing Certificate from an approved accredited community college
  • Recent experience as defined per PIDAC documents and adopted by NHH
  • Certification with the Medical Device Reprocessing Association of Ontario (MDRAO)
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision and accuracy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1-year recent experience in the Medical Device Reprocessing Department
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with varying levels of noise and distractions. The ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods, as well as repetitive lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling, is essential for this role.

Employment Requirements:

Successful applicants will be required to provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check and complete the Health Care Worker Health review process, including providing an up-to-date immunization record.
