Position Title: Office Administrator, Yellowknife (English Services) (On-Site)

Status of Employment: Permanent

This role requires full-time on-site presence.

This position is integral to the CBC North team, focusing on delivering confidential administrative and operational support within the region. You will be pivotal in managing all facets of employee remuneration and contracting, alongside various additional initiatives as necessary.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Collect and validate information, initiating documentation related to staffing and compensation for employees across all CBC Network News, News Production Services, and Regional News.
  • Provide support for all CBC locations in the northern territories.
  • Oversee calendar management, travel arrangements, and expense claims for the Senior Managing Director.
  • Assist in scheduling as needed.
  • Facilitate the onboarding process for new staff members.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, departmental procedures, and collective agreements, obtaining necessary authorizations and forwarding documentation for timely processing.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to provide relevant support and information to staff regarding changes in collective agreements, benefits, and more.
  • Investigate and communicate with Human Resources on employment status and pay-related issues.
  • Assist in determining the appropriate contractual status for employees.
  • Advise management on additional remuneration, contracts, leave, attendance, and other employee-related matters.
  • Provide administrative support through Workday.
  • Draft employee contracts using Livelink.
  • Prepare freelance agreements and manage payments via Livelink.
  • Compile documentation for hiring temporary employees, maintaining frequent communication with local Finance/HR for related payments.
  • Propose, implement, and sustain business processes related to the above responsibilities.
  • Draft and/or assist in the creation of confidential reports.
  • Establish and maintain various computerized files and record systems to monitor probationary periods, employee status, length of employment, and expiration dates.
  • Support various committees, including Occupational Health & Safety and Wellness initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role within a comparable environment.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma focused on business administration or equivalent experience.
  • Outstanding organizational abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Proficient in standard desktop software such as MS Office and Google Docs.
  • Experience with Workday is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with tight deadlines, particularly in payroll contexts, is beneficial.
  • Capacity to thrive in a highly collaborative environment.
  • A good listener with an appreciation for diverse perspectives.
  • Quick learner, adaptable to new tools and changes.
  • Open to learning and sharing knowledge with others.
  • Knowledge of a Northern Indigenous language is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of the Northern and pan-Northern political and cultural landscape.
