Your Collaborators:
In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Grocery, Meat, Produce, Bakery, Deli, and Gas Bar Department Managers, along with the General Manager. This dynamic and committed team aims to foster a culture centered on customer satisfaction and community involvement.
Your Responsibilities:
As the Food Store Manager, reporting directly to the General Manager, you will play a crucial role in assisting with the overall management of the Food Store and Gas Bar operations.
- Oversee the comprehensive operations of the Food Store Departments.
- Provide strategic guidance to Food Store Team Leaders and Members to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Collaborate with the General Manager and Department Managers to assess current and future operational needs for effective merchandising, marketing, talent development, and sales enhancement.
- Manage daily operations of the Food Store while ensuring adherence to all company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Offer strong leadership, coaching, and support to department managers and their teams to promote a positive and productive workplace.
- Encourage a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement among staff.
- Assist department managers in optimizing resources to achieve net savings that surpass budget expectations.
- Guide departments to meet financial objectives related to sales, margins, expenses, and profits.
- Support the General Manager in fulfilling the financial targets of the Food Store and Gas Bar.
- Help departments maintain their designated margins and manage them effectively.
- Coach managers on the proper handling of merchandise.
- Ensure all merchandising aligns with the quality standards of the Co-operative.
- Guarantee compliance with all company policies, procedures, the Collective Agreement, and operational regulations, including food safety and inventory management.
- Provide daily management oversight of department managers.
- Lead in employee relations, recruitment, training, and development.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere with high morale.
Your Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Five (5) to ten (10) years of management experience in the retail sector.
- Experience in the grocery industry and/or within a co-operative framework is advantageous.
- Familiarity with environments governed by a Board of Directors is a plus.
- Strong financial management skills, including a solid understanding of profit and loss management.
- Exceptional leadership and people management abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Technical proficiency with common software applications.
- A high level of motivation and organizational skills.
- Integrity, trustworthiness, and a results-oriented mindset.
