Position Overview

Unit Secretary, Telemetry Unit
In this role, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive administrative, secretarial, and reception support for the Telemetry unit. Your ability to communicate effectively, coupled with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, will be essential in managing the demands of a fast-paced healthcare environment. This position plays a vital role in upholding the hospital's academic mission by fostering an environment of learning and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to hospital policies and procedures while providing exceptional service.
  • Act as a liaison for patients and families, managing inquiries and registrations with professionalism.
  • Coordinate interdepartmental activities, including patient transportation and appointment scheduling.
  • Screen and triage incoming communications for healthcare professionals, ensuring efficient message delivery.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Team Manager to address urgent issues and concerns.
  • Compile and distribute materials related to unit activities.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and time reporting, managing relief and payroll processes.
  • Support clinicians with system order entries and patient scheduling.
  • Process medical requisitions and maintain documentation for follow-up.
  • Organize admissions, discharges, and medication information, ensuring electronic records are up to date.
  • Prepare reports and discharge instructions, managing office supplies and inventory effectively.

Qualifications

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent.
  • Medical office assistant certification or a minimum of one year of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and transcription skills.
  • Experience with payroll and staff scheduling.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care principles.
  • Minimum typing speed of 45 words per minute.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in a customer service role within a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.
