Position Overview:

The YMCA of Okanagan is seeking a dedicated professional to oversee the Young Parent Program. This role is pivotal in guiding young parents through their developmental journey by providing essential support and resources.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be tasked with:

  • Delivering comprehensive case management and supportive counseling to program participants, typically managing a caseload of 15-20 individuals.
  • Designing and executing life skills training sessions, utilizing external resources to enhance participant learning.
  • Identifying suitable community resources and facilitating initial connections for participants.
  • Meeting participants in community settings as needed to assist with resource access and appointments.
  • Collaborating effectively with the YMCA Child Care team, YMCA Community & Employment Services, and educational staff to ensure a cohesive support system.
  • Tracking participant progress and adjusting individualized plans to promote successful outcomes, including graduation readiness.
Qualifications:

We are looking for candidates who possess:

  • A valid Social Worker designation.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a counseling environment, particularly with youth, including familiarity with trauma-informed practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of child and adolescent development.
  • Awareness of community agencies and available resources.
  • Experience in program development and execution.
  • Strong group facilitation skills.
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, and communication abilities, both written and verbal.
  • A commitment to the YMCA's mission, vision, and values, demonstrating a personal understanding and appreciation for these principles.
  • A service-oriented mindset, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance the experience of each participant.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, fostering open communication and collaboration with colleagues.
  • Part-time availability, Monday through Friday.
