Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Strategy and Impact, and in collaboration with the Manager of Person Centred Supports, the Housing Support Program Coordinator will work in partnership to execute EHW's Strategic Plan, the Reaching Home: Community Plan, and associated initiatives aimed at preventing and addressing homelessness in Winnipeg. This role is essential in assisting the Manager of Person Centred Supports with the formulation and execution of strategies and activities that cater to the urgent needs of individuals facing homelessness by co-developing enhanced pathways to diverse permanent housing solutions and culturally sensitive, trauma-informed care systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the evaluation and research of the existing Kíkinanaw Óma strategy
  • Gather and assess data from surveys, interviews, and community discussions
  • Facilitate and engage in both internal and external committee meetings
  • Collaborate with community partners and outreach teams
  • Assist organizations with issues related to extreme weather and emergency responses
  • Support managers in coordinating with local agencies and government during building closures to ensure a unified response
  • Complete claims for the Extreme Weather Program and provide assistance to agencies
  • Monitor alerts related to Extreme Weather
  • Prepare reports, terms of reference, briefs, and other documentation
  • Conduct research and develop a consultation plan and terms of reference for a Lived/Living Experience council
  • Aid in the planning, promotion, and execution of events such as the Gizhe Waa Ti-Sii Win Service Delivery Expo
  • Provide updates to the Manager of Person Centred Supports regarding community issues, concerns, and opportunities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

A strong commitment to ending homelessness is essential, along with a comprehensive understanding of homelessness and housing, particularly concerning the needs of vulnerable and over-represented populations. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience:

  • A University Degree or diploma, preferably in social sciences, human ecology, urban planning, or related fields, with coursework or independent study in statistics, program planning and evaluation, and/or research methodologies
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience in program management
  • Experience in the non-profit sector and with Indigenous organizations
  • Proven ability to engage and communicate with various sectors, including facilitating discussions for small and large groups
  • Understanding of community issues related to homelessness and knowledge of colonization and historical factors affecting Indigenous populations regarding homelessness and poverty
  • Proficiency in a Windows environment, including intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • A broad understanding of traditional and alternative engagement methods
  • Knowledge or training in the Collective Impact approach will be considered an asset
  • Ability to compile, organize, and disseminate statistical and other data
  • Strong administrative, editing, and research capabilities
  • A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
