Job Overview:

The Housing Acceleration Project Coordinator will be instrumental in driving forward housing initiatives within the Municipality. This position requires the coordination of various strategic actions aimed at facilitating the issuance of new building permits. The coordinator will collaborate with a range of stakeholders, including potential developers, community organizations, and funding bodies, to promote the development of targeted housing solutions while ensuring compliance with affordability standards and addressing associated challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

Housing Development Coordination:
  1. Identify and evaluate housing opportunities, creating customized RFQ packages for both mixed-use and residential developers, which encompass site selection, planning, design, and cost assessments.
  2. Actively engage with potential developers to promote housing opportunities, facilitate discussions, and manage inquiries to stimulate interest and investment in housing projects.
  3. Oversee the progression of targeted housing initiatives by managing developer engagement, supporting development activities, and ensuring compliance for effective permit acquisition.
Support for Housing Development:
  1. Conduct comprehensive market analyses to assess housing demand and preferences.
  2. Determine the requirements for housing affordability.
  3. Collaborate with the Municipal Council to establish necessary incentives to achieve housing project targets.
  4. Work alongside Council and other consultants to address related issues, including infrastructure enhancements.
Management and Reporting:
  1. Develop and oversee budgets for housing initiatives, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  2. Promote effective collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, including government entities, community organizations, and funding agencies.
  3. Reporting: Prepare regular updates on the progress, challenges, and outcomes of housing initiatives, ensuring stakeholders remain informed. This includes participation in meetings with relevant agencies.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Real Estate Development, Housing Policy, or a related discipline.
  2. Understanding of housing development principles, land use planning, and zoning regulations.
  3. Strong grasp of housing affordability issues and strategies.
  4. Experience in conducting market analysis and evaluating housing demand.
  5. Familiarity with municipal government processes and procedures related to housing development.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
  7. Proven capability to manage budgets, coordinate projects, and foster collaborative efforts among stakeholders.
  8. Proficiency in generating and presenting reports to stakeholders, including government agencies and community organizations.
  9. Experience working with funding agencies is advantageous.
  10. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple housing initiatives simultaneously.
