Job Overview:

The Housing Acceleration Project Coordinator will be instrumental in expediting housing projects within the Municipality. This position entails coordinating various strategic actions to facilitate the issuance of new building permits. The coordinator will collaborate closely with stakeholders, including prospective developers, municipal clients, community organizations, and funding bodies, to promote the development of essential housing solutions while ensuring compliance with affordability standards and addressing associated challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

Housing Development Coordination:
  1. Identify and evaluate housing opportunities, creating customized RFQ packages for mixed-use and residential developers, which encompass site selection, planning, design, and financial estimates.
  2. Actively engage with potential developers, advocating for the opportunities, facilitating discussions, and managing inquiries to stimulate interest and investment in the Municipality's housing initiatives.
  3. Oversee the progression of targeted housing projects by managing developer interactions, supporting development activities, and ensuring compliance for streamlined permit acquisition.
Support for Housing Development:
  1. Conduct comprehensive market analysis to assess housing demand and preferences.
  2. Establish housing affordability criteria.
  3. Collaborate with the Municipal Council to define necessary incentives to achieve the target of multiple housing projects.
  4. Work alongside Council and other consultants to address related issues, including infrastructure enhancements.
Management and Reporting:
  1. Develop and oversee budgets for initiatives, ensuring effective allocation of resources.
  2. Encourage productive collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including governmental entities, community organizations, and funding agencies.
  3. Reporting: Prepare regular updates on the progress, challenges, and results of initiatives, keeping stakeholders informed. This includes participation in meetings with relevant agencies.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Real Estate Development, Housing Policy, or a related discipline.
  2. Understanding of housing development principles, land use planning, and zoning regulations.
  3. Strong grasp of housing affordability challenges and strategies.
  4. Experience in conducting market assessments and evaluating housing demand.
  5. Familiarity with municipal processes and procedures related to housing development.
  6. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
  7. Proven capability to manage budgets, coordinate projects, and foster collaborative efforts among stakeholders.
  8. Proficiency in generating and presenting reports to stakeholders, including governmental agencies and community organizations.
  9. Experience working with funding agencies is advantageous.
  10. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple housing initiatives simultaneously.
