Our esteemed client in the Canadian industrial manufacturing sector is in search of a dynamic and forward-thinking Plant Manager to oversee their operations in Toronto. Working closely with the executive leadership team, the Plant Manager plays a pivotal role in fostering operational excellence and enhancing organizational growth and profitability across plant functions. This role encompasses the comprehensive management of all plant operations, ensuring a safe, efficient, and ethical work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage all manufacturing operations, holding overall accountability for production, maintenance, quality, and related activities to optimize the use of facilities and workforce.
  • Provide leadership in employee relations through effective communication, coaching, training, and development, promoting a positive workplace culture aligned with the company's vision and values.
  • Revitalize the safety culture and implement programs to ensure each facility develops and executes strategies aimed at achieving world-class safety standards.
  • Establish and monitor plant performance metrics for safety, production, and quality, collaborating closely with managers and safety teams.
  • Control and reduce labor overtime, premium freight, and repair costs.
  • Maintain and enhance existing plant facilities and equipment, initiating requests for necessary adjustments or replacements.
  • Continuously improve production workflows, assisting in the development of plant layouts and planning for facility, equipment, and operational rearrangements.
  • Coordinate plant activities through strategic planning initiatives.
  • Recruit, train, develop, and mentor team members.
  • Manage plant-level financial operations, including purchasing, inventory, and capital expenditures, while analyzing monthly P&L statements against budget performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet critical business objectives.
  • Develop and implement effective plant processes that support the company's strategic vision.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing, preferably with exposure to industrial environments.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing operations.
  • Post-secondary degree in Engineering or related fields is preferred.
  • Relevant experience managing a P&L.
  • Advanced knowledge of production and manufacturing process improvement techniques and methodologies.
  • Experience with LEAN manufacturing and production processes is essential.
  • Exceptional motivational skills with the ability to train and drive initiatives within the production team.
  • Strong understanding of business finance, quality control systems, and standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proven expertise in operations/supply chain management, lean manufacturing, operational excellence, and policy deployment.
