Transportation and Logistics Manager

In this key position, you will play a vital role in the success of Bumble Bee Foods by overseeing the transportation and logistics functions. As the Transportation and Logistics Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and cost-effective movement of goods from our facilities to our customers.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the Outbound Customer Order Process: Ensure that customer orders are processed accurately and on time, meeting our company's standards for quality and service.
- Supervise the Customer Service Team: Lead and motivate a team of customer service representatives to provide exceptional service to our customers.
- Complete Month-End Reporting: Prepare and submit timely and accurate month-end reports on transportation and logistics activities.
- Liaise with Sales: Collaborate with the sales team to resolve order blocks and customer service issues.
- Ensure On-Time Delivery: Work with carriers and vendors to ensure that orders are delivered to customers on time and in good condition.
- Administer Claims and Deductions: Investigate and resolve claims and deductions related to transportation and logistics activities.
- Oversee Transportation Budgets: Manage transportation budgets and expenses, including negotiating contracts with carriers and vendors to secure competitive rates.
- Monitor Transportation Performance: Analyze and improve transportation performance metrics, including on-time delivery, transportation costs, and carrier performance.
- Manage Carrier Relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers and vendors to ensure smooth and efficient transportation operations.
- Manage Third-Party Payment Process: Oversee the payment process for freight invoices.
- Oversee Monthly Accrual Process: Manage the accrual process for all freight activities.
- Liaise with Logistics Coordinators: Collaborate with logistics coordinators to mitigate demurrage and other accessorial charges on inbound shipments.
- Liaise with Stakeholders: Communicate with various stakeholders, including sales, marketing, technical services, finance, logistics, freight forwarders, and third-party logistics providers.
- Support Logistics Team: Provide backup and support to other members of the logistics team as needed.
- 5+ Years of Experience: In supply chain, order to cash value optimization, food, and/or related CPG industries.
- Detailed Understanding: Of transportation activities, with some experience in inventory, supply planning, and order to cash.
- Experience with Multiple Transportation Modes: Ocean, road, intermodal.
- Understanding of Customs, Brokerage, and International Trade: Familiarity with customs, brokerage, and international trade regulations.
- Effective Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to determine root cause of issues and implement solutions.
- Post-Secondary Education: In a supply chain discipline.
- Solid Understanding of SAP: PTP/OTC/APO/SNP portion or other ERP systems.
- Well-Versed in Microsoft Applications: Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Ability to identify and address transportation challenges.
- Strong Organizational Abilities: Ability to set priorities and reprioritize in a fluid environment.
- Ability to Work in a Team Environment: Demonstrated ability to perform in a team environment.
