Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Metal Fabrication Machine Operator to join our team at Metalcor Building Systems Inc.. This is a permanent position that requires a commitment to excellence in metalworking operations.

Key Details

  • Experience: 1 to 2 years in a similar role
Work Environment

The ideal candidate should be willing to relocate and work in a dynamic environment that requires flexibility and adaptability.

Responsibilities
  • Construct staging or erect scaffolding for substantial metalworking projects.
  • Inspect products to ensure they meet specified shapes, dimensions, and other criteria.
  • Maintain and lubricate machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Shape and form metal stock into components or products through cutting, bending, rolling, reaming, punching, drilling, welding, and other techniques.
  • Document completed work accurately.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues to perform minor repairs.
  • Set up and operate various light or heavy metalworking machines.
  • Utilize gas or oil-fired furnaces to heat metal to appropriate temperatures before forging.
  • Operate machines or equipment to weld, solder, bolt, screw, or rivet metal components together.
  • Use presses or other forging machines for hot or cold forging processes.
  • Place metal items in furnaces for heating.
  • Adjust dies on the anvil of forging machinery as needed.
  • Position heated or cooled metal pieces on dies for further processing.
  • Read and interpret specifications or follow verbal instructions accurately.
  • Remove metal pieces from furnaces when they reach the correct forging temperature.
  • Select and transport materials to the work area manually or with cranes or hoists.

Physical Requirements
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to handle heavy loads.
  • Manual dexterity is essential.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required.
  • Physically demanding tasks.
  • Repetitive tasks may be involved.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Work effectively under pressure.

Must be able to handle weights up to 9 kg (20 lbs).
