About the Role

Metalcor Building Systems Inc. is seeking a skilled Metalworking Machine Operator to join our team. As a key member of our fabrication department, you will be responsible for operating various metalworking machines to produce high-quality metal parts and products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Machine Operation: Lay out, set up, and operate one or more light or heavy metalworking machines to perform tasks such as cutting, bending, rolling, reaming, punching, drilling, welding, or shaping metal stock.
  • Quality Control: Check products for correct shapes, dimensions, and other specifications to ensure they meet our quality standards.
  • Maintenance: Clean and lubricate machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime.
  • Problem-Solving: Investigate problems to fix or make minor repairs to metalworking machines and equipment.
  • Material Handling: Select and transport material to the work area manually or using a crane or hoist.
Work Environment

As a Metalworking Machine Operator, you will work in a fast-paced environment with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking. You will be exposed to cold, dusty, hot, and noisy conditions, as well as odors from the metalworking process.

Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a metalworking or fabrication environment.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to handle heavy loads up to 9 kg (20 lbs) and work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Personal Suitability: Flexibility, judgement, organized, and a team player.
