About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Metalworking Machine Operator to join our team at Metalcor Building Systems Inc. as a Fabrication Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining various metalworking machines to produce high-quality metal products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Machine Operation: Lay out, set up, and operate one or more light or heavy metalworking machines to perform tasks such as cutting, bending, rolling, reaming, punching, drilling, welding, or otherwise shaping and forming metal stock into parts or products.
  • Quality Control: Check products for correct shapes, dimensions, and other specifications to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Clean and lubricate machinery and equipment, and investigate problems to fix or make minor repairs.
  • Material Handling: Select and transport material to work area manually or using crane or hoist.
  • Documentation: Document work completed and read and interpret specifications or follow verbal instructions.
Work Environment

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking. The role requires attention to detail, hand-eye coordination, and the ability to work under pressure. The work site environment is cold/refrigerated, dusty, hot, noisy, and may involve odours.

Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year of experience in a related field.
  • Physical Demands: Willing to handle heavy loads up to 9 kg (20 lbs) and work in a physically demanding environment.
