Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000
The Senior Estimator is crucial in managing the preparation and coordination of comprehensive estimates for various projects. This role involves close collaboration with Project Management and Business Development teams to effectively secure bids and proposals.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare detailed estimates across all design phases.
- Conduct quantity take-offs and assess costs for materials, labor, and equipment necessary to meet contract requirements.
- Monitor and evaluate labor pricing and production for specific projects, showcasing expertise in pricing across all trade disciplines.
- Assist in maintaining an up-to-date estimating cost database to ensure relevance and accuracy.
- Familiarity with the procurement process and leading purchasing operations.
- Oversee job-specific estimating teams in the bid assembly and submission process.
- Create an Estimate Action List; assign responsibilities to team members; coordinate efforts and supervise work; establish a timeline for task completion to align with project needs.
- Review estimates for accuracy and completeness before formal submission.
A degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management is required, alongside 5-10 years of relevant estimating experience. Project Management experience is beneficial but not mandatory, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Experience with hard bids is an advantage.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Proven ability to gather and organize information from multiple sources and prepare materials for formal distribution.
- Expertise in cost estimating, including the breakdown of assemblies to develop rough order magnitudes, budgets, and actual work.
- Capability to create bid packages for vendors and subcontractors.
- Ability to evaluate and scope vendor and subcontractor proposals.
- Exceptional interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of procurement management.
- Extensive experience in plan review.
- Thorough understanding of residential single-family and multi-family wood frame construction, as well as light commercial projects.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and MS Project or similar digital tools.
