About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Cost Estimating Lead to join our team at CB Canada. As a key member of our project management team, you will be responsible for leading the development, implementation, and communication of cost estimating procedures, systems, and tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement cost estimating procedures, systems, and tools to ensure accurate and reliable cost estimates.
  • Lead the development of cost estimates for major infrastructure projects, ensuring that they are robust, realistic, and well-documented.
  • Review and sign off on project cost estimates as part of the stage gate process.
  • Design and deliver training programs to enable project teams to adopt cost estimating best practices.
  • Ensure alignment between cost estimates, project schedules, and execution strategies.
  • Participate in quantitative risk assessments to support integrated cost and schedule contingency processes.
  • Validate cost estimates using personal and industry experience, identifying potential out-of-range values and applying corrective actions when necessary.
  • Review contractor prices at bid, during negotiation, and on high-value claims.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree or diploma in a relevant business or engineering discipline, with 15 years of experience on major infrastructure projects (values greater than $1B).
  • Proven expertise in cost estimating, with the ability to develop best practice procedures and review sophisticated estimates developed by others.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts and persuade others.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain respectful working relationships with internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to work under broad direction, using significant independent judgment to problem-solve and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project.
